UNION BEACH, NJ - New Jersey American Water plans exciting movie premiere to honor Union Beach resident, and star of video, Jillian Johnson
New Jersey American Water, along with the Borough of Union Beach, will hold a “movie premiere” honoring Union Beach resident Jillian Johnson, 11, who stars in New Jersey American Water’s new “Splash” educational video
Last summer, Jillian, a student at Memorial Elementary School, won a New Jersey American Water art contest for her depiction of how families can conserve water. The video shows Jillian interacting with “Splash,” an animated water droplet, while demonstrating simple ways to save water in the home.
The premiere will feature an appearance by Jillian and her family complete with red carpet, velvet ropes, spotlights and free popcorn.

New Jersey American Water will honor Jillian Johnson, winner of New Jersey American Water’s summer art contest which centered on water conservation in the home. Jillian’s entry illustrated how rain water could be collected to reuse for outdoor vegetation.

Quick Stop Store Robbed

MIDDLETOWN, NJ - On January 12, 2012 at approximately 10:00pm Middletown police responded to an armed robbery at the Quick Stop Convenience Store located at 58 Leonard Avenue in the Leonardo section of Middletown. Police say a male subject approximately 6’00 tall, 175 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, a black mask and blue surgical gloves entered the store and approached the cashier.
The suspect pulled a knife out of his clothing and demanded money.
The cashier handed over money, totalling $1200-$1400, from the drawer and lottery, according to store employee Mohinder Kumar. The cashier was told to move to the back of the store while the suspect then fled the store. He was seen, by an arriving customer, running towards Kunkel Park and the Henry Hudson Trail.

RED BANK, NJ - The Monmouth County Arts Council (MCAC) invites all Monmouth County arts organizations, artists, arts-related businesses, and anyone interested in the local arts community to join us at our Annual Meeting.
The Annual Meeting is a great opportunity for all members (organizations, businesses and individuals) as well as those interested in becoming members to see MCAC in action. The evening includes networking with a wide variety of arts organizations and artists, refreshments and a workshop on MCAC’s New Media services to meet the changing times. MCAC will honor Becker Guerry and Mumford Design for their work on the new MCAC website, McKay Imaging, Mumford Design and Jody Calendar for their work on X.it magazine, and outgoing Board members Anthony Galante and Holly Lyttle.
Member Groups should send a representative to the meeting, as the evening culminates with a vote on the slate for the 2012 MCAC Board of Trustees who will serve three – year terms.

Shrewsbury, NJ --Shrewsbury residents are invited to join the Shrewsbury Garden Club (SGC) at 7 p.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Borough Hall as it hosts a town hall meeting on a possible community garden for Shrewsbury.
“Growing Together A Community Garden” will feature organizers from the Oceanport, Tinton Falls and Monmouth University community gardens who will discuss their experiences creating and maintaining successful community gardens. Shrewsbury residents are encouraged to attend and share their thoughts about the project, including site selection, costs, funding, educational and volunteer components.
