Atlantic Highlands, NJ – Auditions will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 for the Fifth Annual Sounds of the Highlands Jr. Concert. Singers, dancers, poets, actors, instrumentalists, and other performers between the ages of 5 and 18 are encouraged to audition for the performance scheduled on March 10, 2013 at the Central Baptist Church in Atlantic Highlands.
Jose Loo returns this year as the Music Director, and performers will again have the opportunity to work with a professional back-up band, to include Dave Crowton on guitar and Jim Mazell on drums. Since its inception, this popular concert has been held before a sold-out house at the historic Central Baptist Church in Atlantic Highlands.

New Tower Hill Pastor Addresses Community’s Pain and Loss after Sandy

RED BANK, NJ - As the new senior pastor of the First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank (Tower Hill), Jason Tucker was enjoying a warm welcome from his parishioners. And then came Hurricane Sandy. After relocating his family to the home of relatives, Tucker focused on ministering to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of church members and the greater community.

Middletown Bulky Debris from Sandy Must Be Curbside by Dec 3

MIDDLETOWN, NJ - Middletown residents must place all bulky waste from Superstorm Sandy curbside by Monday, December 3rd. Debris removal contractors will then perform one final street-by-street collection of all bulky waste. Storm debris placed curbside after this collection will be the responsibility of the homeowner. This does not apply to leaves and brush. Brush must be placed curbside by Monday, December 17th. Brush contractors will then perform one final street by street collection of all brush. Leaf and garbage collection will continue on its normal schedule by zone.
AH First Aid Squad to Assist Santa on Rounds in Borough

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ - Members of the Atlantic Highlands First Aid & Safety Squad will assist Santa in travelling through the streets of borough the week of Dec. 3, 2012.
Weather permitting from Dec. 3 through Dec. 6, AHFAS elves will help Santa visit a part of town each night from 6 PM to 9 PM, where he’ll chat with children and family, hand out candy canes, and collect donations of food to be delivered to the Atlantic Highlands Food Pantry.
“Preparations for Santa’s visit have been underway for months,” says AHFAS chief Tom Hayden. “This is a great way to kick off the holiday season in Atlantic Highlands.”
This year, as the squad has done for the past several years, the AHFAS is asking residents for donations of non-perishable food items for the Atlantic Highlands Food Pantry.

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ - The Atlantic Highlands Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring an evening of Small Business Administration News and Updates.
The focus of this evening will be the aftermath planning and recovery of superstorm Sandy. All local businesses are invited to attend at no cost.
Paul Orzechowski, Vice President, Small Business Administration Manager for Two River Community Bank is the evening’s keynote speaker focusing on building a resilient business and the resources that are available through SBA. Two River Community Bank was recently named a Preferred Lender with the U.S. Small Business Administration. Mr. Orzechowski says that the bank understands that when it comes to commercial loans, local businesses need choices. He and his staff are available to support and assist through the process.
The meeting is scheduled for December 11, 6:30 p.m. at the Two River Community Bank Branch, 2345 Highway 36, Eastpointe Shopping Plaza, Atlantic Highlands, NJ. Interested attendees should reserve space in advance by calling the Chamber office at 732 872-8711, or registering on our website.
