Highlands, NJ – Long after this year’s Super Bowl Most Valuable Player is named, the game will continue to have an impact on youngsters throughout the State of New Jersey. The NY/NJ Snowflake Youth Foundation (SYF), the charitable arm of the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee, is refurbishing run-down or damaged youth-serving organizations throughout the Garden State. Today, the Borough of Highlands announced that it is one of at least 23 sites benefiting from a $1.5 million grant for repairs and renovations from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) to SYF through the Community Foundation of New Jersey.
Middletown Boy Scouts Raising Funds for One of Their Own

MIDDLETOWN, NJ - Troop 140 is holding a fundraiser for lifelong Middletown resident. Many of you may know Joey Steiger from the Fairview neighborhood. He can often be seen riding his bike and helping out friends, neighbors and the community at large. He is an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 140, Fairview School, where started as a young boy and continues to tirelessly help the Scouts of today. Joey was hospitalized in the middle of December with major heart problems. His mom, Nadine Fers, is doing everything possible for Joe.
American Repertory Ballet Announces Its Spring 2014 Performance Season

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - American Repertory Ballet will present revivals and world premieres at venues across the state - from Mahwah to Princeton - February through May, 2014. The spring season features two performances of Artistic Director Douglas Martin’s acclaimed Romeo and Juliet, the world premiere of Douglas Martin’s Firebird and the company premiere of Kirk Peterson’s Afternoon of a Faun at McCarter Theatre, a world premiere choreographed by former Joffrey Ballet star Trinette Singleton, and American Repertory Ballet’s Diamond Gala - celebrating 60 years since the founding of the organization in 1954.

ARB’s spring season opens with two performances of Douglas Martin’s full-length Romeo and Juliet, which premiered to a full house at State Theatre in October 2013. The first performance is February 22, 2014 at 8:00pm at the Berrie Center for the Performing and Visual Arts at Ramapo College in Mahwah, NJ. The second is March 8, 2014 at 8:00pm at The Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg, NJ.
Four Gallery Exhibitions Opening this Week at Monmouth University

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University’s Center for the Arts is pleased to announce four new gallery exhibitions opening this week in the three on-campus galleries.
In the recently completed Joan and Robert Rechnitz Hall, the 1st floor of the DiMattio Gallery will be host to the exhibition, “EYE CONS” featuring the work of professional illustrator Michael Anthony Donato, who has also been a drawing and painting instructor at Monmouth University for 14 years. Donato’s work has appeared in numerous books, magazines and videos including "Squanto and the First Thanksgiving" which won “Notable Children's Video” honors from the American Library Association. His commissioned paintings have appeared in galleries both nationally and internationally and are part of many private collections. The paintings included in this exhibition have been inspired by Pre-Renaissance and Renaissance iconography, but each takes an original contemporary interpretation of these themes. The opening reception for this exhibition will be on Friday, January 31 from 7– 9 pm and the exhibition will run until March 7.
Middletown Warriors Baseball Club Host Flapjack Fundraiser

MIDDLETOWN, NJ - The Middletown Warriors Baseball Club (U12) is seeking your support with a fundraising event which will help mitigate the cost of travel, lodging, and tournament costs as they head to Cooperstown, NY in August. The Cooperstown tournament is considered the highlight destination in youth baseball.
The Flapjack Fundraiser will be held at Applebee’s restaurant on Sunday, February 16th from 8:00a.m. – 10:00a.m. Applebee’s is located at: 1183 Route 35 in Middletown, NJ. Applebee’s will graciously donate all profits to the Warriors club.
