My Encounters with Death

The Psalmist prayed, “Lord may my life be precious in your sight.” Christians sometimes pray for a hedge of protection around their loved ones. This is a concept introduced in the book of Job when Satan challenged God by saying that Job’s faith was strong because God always protects him. There have been a number of times when I walked through the valley of the shadow of death. It seemed like death was nearby, but God in his goodness created a hedge of protection and delivered me.
The first time I encountered death was when I was around nine years and I went to swim in a nearby river with my friends. Our game was to jump in and count how long each of us could stay at the bottom of the river. I jumped in but when I wanted to come out, I became entangled in the roots of a tree. Instead of swimming up, I became even more tangled in the roots. I could hear my friends counting from the shore and I knew that I was going to die. My short life flashed before my eyes with supersonic speed; there I was dying as my friends were cheering for my ability to stay underwater. Finally, I pulled so hard that the root broke and I swam up to the surface.

"What was it all for?", Anne Mikolay asks.
Ms. Mikolay forgets work Trump did for our Vets. Now they go to own doctor instead of waiting weeks for appointment. How bout thousands and thousands of dollars to Black Colleges? The closing of abortion mills. Making the US no 1 in the world for oil production. Raising child deduction to $2000 from $1000. Giving middle class extra $5000 year due to tax reduction. Increasing jobs by lowering corporate taxes which allowed for increased output thus increased jobs. Best economy in history of this country. Yeah I was sad too. Sad to see our country will be led by those who don’t have vaguest idea what this country needs.
Does that answer your question what it was all for?!

As I watched President Donald Trump depart the White House for the last time, I felt an unexpected sadness. The television commentator described Trump as a “pariah,” a failed and delusional President. That he may be, but the sight of Trump striving to salvage his dignity, pretending to be unaffected by his defeat, stirred a great sense of loss and wastefulness. The Trump administration greatly diminished our nation; what on earth was it all for? While the Trump administration often highlighted the worst of America, there are positive lessons to be learned.
